Our goal is to provide and promote opportunities for the arts and for our community- to encourage collaboration across disciplines, to support local and visiting artists in an expansive and inclusive way, to create and coordinate events, and encourage the economic and creative vitality of this vibrant town.

Members of the creative and cultural community of Lyons, Colorado - via a non-profit known as Lyons Creative District - have set a goal of becoming a certified Colorado Creative District. The Creative District program certifies communities that contribute to the state's economy through creativity, culture and arts. The program was enabled by state legislation in 2011 with four goals:

• To increase jobs, incomes and investments in creative places;

• To attract artists and creative entrepreneurs, infusing new energy and innovation;

• To enhance the economic and civic capital of the community; and 

• To serve as a focal point for celebrating and strengthening a community's unique identity.

Lyons Creative District has established a strong foundation of support from the local creative community and has delivered on some extraordinary programming and projects contributing to the overall quality of life in Lyons. By becoming a certified Creative District, we see an opportunity to build on this work. The certification process supports emerging community arts organizations to align stakeholders and resources, connect the creative community to develop a shared vision for the future, and  activate that vision through a clear and concise strategic plan. Ultimately, our goal is to have a clear approach to help us leverage our cultural assets and turn them into a new economic engine for the community, while supporting our artists and creatives
